John Rhea NYCHA

John Rhea, NYCHA’s current Chairman, was appointed to his position at the New York City Housing Authority by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2009. This appointment came after Rhea served for 20 years in the private sector. While maintaining his status as a board member for the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, John B. Rhea has also advocated for early childhood education and has served on the board for the Children’s Museum of Manhattan in the past.

Rhea is an alumnus of both Wesleyan University and Harvard Business School, and has worked for prominent organizations like Barclays Capital and JP Morgan Chase. During his time with NYCHA, John Rhea has worked on the development of initiatives like Plan NYCHA, which seeks to create “a stronger, more efficient and customer-focused” NYCHA.
