Thom Weisel

Thomas W. Weisel (Thom Weisel) is the Co-Chairman of Stifel Financial Corp. Mr. Weisel is also a prolific businessman, athlete, and art collector.

Prior to his position at Stifel Financial Corp, Weisel was the Chairman and CEO of Thomas Weisel Partners Group Inc., a firm he founded in 1998.

Weisel currently serves on the Board of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and has previously served on the boards of NASDAQ, the Stanford Endowment Management Board, the Harvard Business School Advisory Board, and the New York Museum of Modern Art.

Thom Weisel is an entrepreneur and business builder. He has two former companies: Montgomery Securities and Thomas Weisel Partners. Over 37 years, those companies were sold for a total of $2.0 billion!

Sports

Mr. Weisel is a master skier. Starting at the ripe young age of 7, he instantly fell in love with the slopes. After setting several national records during his adolescent years, he eventually won the bronze medal in Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Overall in the US Masters National Championship in 1982, racing in the 40-year-old age group.

Weisel has also put his business acumen behind his passion for sports. Mr. Weisel has been on the U.S. Ski and Snowboard team Foundation Board since 1977 and was their Chairman from 1983 through 1994.

Weisel is also an avid runner, cyclist, and surfer—he likes to catch a good wave whenever the opportunity allows!

Art

Mr. Weisel is well known for his impressive collection of contemporary art and Native American and Asian Pacific antiquities. His personal collection includes American art from the early New York school, the California figurative movement, and Native American art that spans more than 1,000 years with a focus on art from the American Southwest.

Education

Weisel graduated from Stanford University with distinction and honors Economics. He obtained his MBA from Harvard University.
