In recent years, there has been a major increase in awareness about the state of education abroad, namely in the Middle East. Courageous female education activists such as Malala Yousafzai have risked their lives in order to bring education reform to the forefront, and in turn, have captured the attention of organizations like the United Nations.

One of the most powerful forces for women’s education abroad is none other than Dr. Sakena Yacoobi, professor at multiple institutions and founder of the Afghan Institute of Learning.
