More than $44 million scholarships have been awarded by Ronald McDonald House Charities since 1985. RMHC knows that many hardworking students that have demonstrated academic excellence, have dreams of going to college but cannot financially afford it. That is why RMHC, with the help of its U.S. chapters, offers support to students that have proven academic achievement, leadership, and active participation and involvement in their community.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay, Florida Prepaid College Foundation STARS Scholarship program, and AT&T together, have offered 36 high school students scholarships. These groups have committed themselves to helping students succeed and reach their full potential. Each recipient was awarded a two-year Florida prepaid college contract. The Florida prepaid college contract prepays tuition, registration fees, and local fees. The plan is applicable to the 28 Florida colleges. With the help of this scholarship, students will be able to get their higher education without delay and kick-start their careers.
How were recipients chosen? RMHC scholarship winners are chosen based on academic performance, active involvement in their communities, and financial need. Applicants are also evaluated on an essay describing their plans for their college education and career goals.
AT&T has extended their philanthropy further by donating $18,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay scholarship program. With this gracious donation, five more students will be awarded scholarships.
To apply for an RMHC U.S. Scholarship, graduating high school seniors may apply for one of four scholarships online starting October 1, 2012. To apply, students must be eligible to attend a two or four-year college, university, or technical school and must live close to one of RMHC’s chapters that offers the desired scholarship.
